Bizarre Albums Podcast

Has anyone listened to this? It’s wonderful. Here’s the synopsis from the site.

On Bizarre Albums, Tony Thaxton explores the weirder side of music, celebrating and telling the story behind those strange albums that make you wonder how and why they exist. Doing deep dives on albums released by pro athletes, actors, fictional characters, and more.

I’ve always had a weird fascination with those weird pop culture crossover moments (Mr. T cartoons and cereal, Batman appearing on Scooby Doo, Superman vs. Muhammad Ali). Thaxton really goes deep to explain what went into making these albums and why they exist. He plays it really straight-forward. No mockery. No judgment. Just facts. Each episode is roughly 20 minutes.

Here are some of the albums covered so far.

The Archies
Bruce Willis - The Return of Bruno
Lenny & Squiggy - Lenny and the Squigtones
Pat Boone - In a Metal Mood
Neil Young - Trans
Burt Reynolds - Ask Me What I Am
Evel Knievel - Evel Knievel
Mr. T - Mr. T’s Commandments
Buster Poindexter - Buster Poindexter

Obviously have Trans. I seem to recall owning that Lenny and Squiggy album too.

Michael McKean is one of my favorites.
My buddy saw Spinal Tap in concert once, I think.

I love him too. Really enjoyed him in Better Call Saul.

I looked it up and Spinal Tap played a show at Pine Knob in 1992 I think that was the show he went to.
