Well, this one was quite easy since I have only managed to hear one new album this year that I have been genuinely fond of back to back (Wilco’s new one also has some great songs, though) – and, heck, it is not even a proper album:

Phosphorescent – The Full Moon Project
Houck released a series of covers every full moon, including ‘I’m a Mess’, ‘Storms’, ‘Corpus Christi Bay’, ‘Big Red Sun Blues’, ‘Tryin’ to Get to Heaven’ and ‘Any Old Miracle’. One can really tell that he put in a big effort in crafting his take on every single one of these songs. In my book, this one sets the bar for how a covers album should be done (no other artist mentioned, no other artist forgotten). Oh, wait. He already did that with ‘From Willie’ in 2009. But this one is probably even stronger.

Ha!!! He’s pretty great

I love his cover of thunder road

He does great live streams. “Hunker in the Bunker” and tells wonderful stories. He’s not really my friend. We just got to hang out.

Lol you all do!!!

That third Alvvays record, Blue Rev, is incredible. Definitely my fave of 2022. Never realized how dense some of Molly Rankin’s lyrics were. And insanely thick production. Like My Bloody Valentine power pop lol
