That looks like a great setlist too.
how cool and how odd that i had just put them on my elk camp playlist…it had been years since i put them on…great setlist.
Saw Andrew Combs with Kirby Brown as support last week in a beautiful little church. Great night, fantastic live (great band he has) and good chat after.
love andrew combs
He has a hell of a voice. His falsetto is ridiculously loud
One of those upcoming solo shows is in Grand Rapids at the Fountain St. Church. I’ll be tempted to go, it’s where my college graduation was. A great intimate theater with excellent acoustics.
You should go. I’ve seen him solo acoustic and it’s beautiful. There’s a fancy private school here with a 400 seat theatre for the kids orchestra performances. It Was built for premium sound and it sounds amazing in there. He’s played there 3-4 times and it has been exceptional.
We went on a little trip to attend Steve Earle’s benefit show for his son’s school. Josh Ritter, Jason Isbell, and Amanda Shires were there. It was a really great show. It’s always great to see Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires play together. Steve’s set was solid.
We then drove to Wilkes-Barre to see Jason Isbell do an acoustic show with his guitar player, which was really great. I’m looking forward to the new album.
That’s great, I heard he was doing a handful of acoustic gigs.
Yeah, it was really stellar. Here’s a new song he played each night. It’s from the next night. Fair warning, he has been asking youtube to take this song down whenever it’s posted, and so it may not be here long.
Hey, a song called Overseas by Jason Isbell not about soldiers, what’s not to like, right? But seriously, it’s a fantastic song.
Well this year is starting well. local concert promoter was doing a 12 days of Christmas thing where they gave away prize packages for 12 days and I won free tickets to 5 shows of my choice . They had to already be announced, so I was a bit limited but I am now on the guest list for 3 shows I was planning to attend (Damien Jurado, John Moreland and Beach Slang) I picked a couple of others I have heard about but never listened to - Temples and Nathaniel Rateliff (solo).
Sweet! I love John Moreland and have seen him twice. Both times was just him and another guy seated playing acoustic and they were excellent! John Moreland has an incredible voice.
I saw Nathaniel Rateliff on Fallon last night and the song he performed from his new album was good, I thought. I like his music a lot.
We saw Steve Forbert in Evanston last night. Solid show. He played several songs from The American in Me, which is by far my favorite album of his.
I used to listen to his music way back when. Still have the vinyl of Jackrabbit Slim and Little Stevie Orbit. Always have liked his stuff.
