RIP Aretha! :frowning:

DETROIT — Aretha Franklin, the undisputed “Queen of Soul” who sang with matchless style on such classics as “Think,” ''I Say a Little Prayer" and her signature song, “Respect,” and stood as a cultural icon around the globe, has died at age 76 from advance pancreatic cancer.
Publicist Gwendolyn Quinn tells The Associated Press through a family statement that Franklin passed Thursday at 9:50 a.m. at her home in Detroit. The statement said “Franklin’s official cause of death was due to advance pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type, which was confirmed by Franklin’s oncologist, Dr. Philip Phillips of Karmanos Cancer Institute” in Detroit.
The family added: “In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family.”

So sad Aretha is gone. I loved her music growing up and had several of her singles.

Think, (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman, and of course Respect. NOBODY ever complained when you put Aretha on.

Not sure if this is correct, but I heard People magazine found out that her family didn’t want any news of her condition (and imminent death) publicized… but went ahead and publicized it anyway. You know, for the clicks and money they could make off it.

That’s my girl right there. Never knew a voice could do all that. So grateful for all the inspiration.

Couldn’t have said it better, so I won’t.
Thanks Aunty ReeRee . xo

I can respect his service and sacrifice, but McCain’s folksy Maverick legend is largely bullshit. McCain still voted with this administration over 80% of the time while knowing he’d never have to face another primary. Even Mel Gibson was a better maverick.

I think he would have been dishonorably discharged before his flights to Vietnam if his Father wasn’t a prominent figure in the military.
