I have a sort of sceptical relationship with Goth. But great admiration too: The Cure back then in particular and what Chelsea Wolfe is doing now. Like metal there is a lot of lame mimicry and social disfunction. But there are some who embrace the aesthetic and are progressive contributors to the legacy of human culture. By that I mean real artists with a fresh perspective and passion for the form.
Anyway wanted to get this going.
One thing I've noticed the biggest Cure (and Smiths / Morrissey) geeks are in Dublin, Ireland. Hands down.
Here's one example...
This Dublin girl reviews Tim Pope's creative relationship with the band. He directed many of their videos.
